The graphical representation

demonstrates Shimadzu’s comprehensive and fully integrated
system that allows centralised environmental monitoring, alarm and
control for a complete wide area network. The system can also include
comprehensive, fully mobile facilities as shown with telemetry communication
to the central control. |

Today, as the causes of environmental degradation increase,
the ever-present potential for global warming, excessive air and
water pollution etc. becomes even greater. The monitoring of these
relevant pollutants has become extremely important. Shimadzu’s
environmental pollution analyzers meet these challenges.
Shimadzu’s environment monitoring technologies utilized in
ambient air-monitoring systems determine whether or not environmental
air quality standards are being observed. Monitoring of Carbon Monoxide
(CO), Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), Ozone (O3),
atmospheric particulate matter, heavy metals etc., is effectively
achieved over extended periods.
Regionalised stationary systems, fully networked to a central control
(via modem) can be complemented by incorporating sophisticated mobile
units that allow deployment to provide pollution assessment at any
remote location. These units may also be connected into the network
via telemetry.
Where “on site” sampling and analysis
is essential, personal systems like PIA-1000 series ion chromatograph
analysers, that operate effectively on mains supply or battery power,
provide the ultimate in portability.

The PIA-1000 personal ion analyser (opposite page, bottom) is an
example of the portable range of instruments.
